About the Farmer

The Fazenda IP is not what you might expect from your typical Brazilian coffee. This Yellow Bourbon varietal, with its smooth, comforting texture, and rich dried fruit notes offer up flavors of milk chocolate, almond and raisin.

It all started in 1967, when Isidro Pereira, father of Luiz Paulo, bought the farm. By that time, Luiz was still coursing his graduation in agricultural technics and livestock production. 5 years later father and son joined forces to run the farm together. In 1974, by Luiz Paulo’s will, an expansion plan took place at Fazenda IP.

The farm, located in Carmo de Minas, Brasil, has 12 springs and keeps 80 hectares for the preservation of native forest and for reforestation. Isidro Pereira was a pioneer in coffee growing in Carmo de Minas, and one of the leaders of what has become a coffee-growing dynasty in this area of Brasil. Luiz Paulo Senior has continued this commitment and passion and still tastes every single lot that leaves the farm, carefully keeping notes in his famous notebook. His grandson, Luiz Paulo (Junior) is a farmer on his own right and a founding partner in the exporting company Carmo Coffee.
