About the Farmer

Elias Shiifa, the grower of this tasty micro-lot, lives nearby to Mustefa Abakeno; the coffee grower, processor and exporter.
Mustefa has set up a wet-mill where he processes and dries many of his neighbour's coffees, Elias included. He recently registered as an exporter to be able to sell his coffees directly to buyers.
With this type of relationship, there is a huge potential to drive up the quality of coffee produced and maximise the income returned to the producers.

In Western Ethiopia, near Agaro in the area of Jimma, lives Mustefa Abakeno; a smallholder farmer who owns 18 hectares of land and a wet mill at around 2040masl.
Mustefa plants various coffee varietals from the Jimma research centre, half of which he pulps with his small disc pulper and the other half is dried by natural process.
The area has limited access to water, meaning naturally processed or shorter fermentation time is necessary.
Many of Mustefas neighbours process their coffee in similar ways, meaning that the apparent differences between each of Mustefas coffees are primarily due to differences in microclimate from farm to farm.
