About the Origin
Since 2003, Horácio Antônio de Moura has been growing specialty coffee at Sítio Três Barras, located in Simonésia, in the heart of Brazil’s renowned Matas de Minas region — one of the country’s most traditional and awarded coffee-growing areas. With dedication and a meticulous focus on quality at every stage of production, Horácio has earned both national and international recognition for his consistently outstanding coffees, known for their craftsmanship and rich, distinctive flavor profiles.
Sítio Três Barras, located in Simonésia, Minas Gerais, has been in the same family for six generations and began producing specialty coffee in 2003. Since then, the farm has been fully committed to delivering high-quality coffee.
The story goes back to Horácio’s great-grandfather, Luiz Amorim, who settled the land, tamed the terrain, and planted the first coffee trees — at the time, a variety known as Moca, grown on high hillsides. Horácio Antônio de Moura fondly recalls his childhood, when the family used a traditional stone mill to wash the coffee beans.
Today, blending tradition with modern practices, Sítio Três Barras produces a variety of specialty coffees using advanced techniques. The farm features wooden resting boxes for post-processing storage, concrete patios, and raised African beds for drying. After harvest, the cherries go through a washer, are carefully sorted, pulped, and laid out to dry — all steps taken with precision to ensure exceptional quality in every cup.
