About the Farmer

In the Shumbana village in Santa Rosa de la Yunga, Peru, sits two hectares of rich coffee plantation, owned by Wilmer Martinez Terrones.
The farm is planted with trees of Caturra, Typica, and Pache varieties, and sits at 1850masl, where Wilmer picks, processes and dries his coffee himself on a lined patio before delivering it to the Falcon warehouse in Jaén.

The region of Cajamarca has huge potential for specialty grade coffees: ideal with both growing conditions and plant varieties.
Unfortunately, due to poor harvesting, processing and drying techniques, (because coffee producers lack both infrastructure and knowledge) quality is often lost.
75% of coffee producers in Northern Peru are unassociated with cooperatives, organizations or associations, meaning a lack of access to training, certifications, premiums prices for quality, and their income totally dependent on the fluctuating market price.
This change in approach to sourcing is conducive to forging long-term relationships; enabling an increase in the quality of coffee produced and prices for producers.
