About the Origin
Clayton Monteiro’s natural Red Catuai from the Caparaó region brings out the best of Brazil’s nuanced terroirs. With classic nutty and cocoa-forward aromas, the cup shines with notes of hazelnut, walnut, and cereal—delivering a comforting, smooth, and balanced profile. The natural process enhances sweetness while the altitude preserves its clean, well-structured cup, offering a delicious showcase of Brazilian specialty coffee.
Located along the slopes of the Caparaó Mountains, this region is defined by rugged altitudes, cool mountain air, and mineral-rich soil. The microclimate here, influenced by the nearby Pico da Bandeira national park, provides unique conditions for cultivating high-quality, high-acidity coffees. Colonized in the 1800s for its fertile land, Caparaó has evolved into a region of smallholder farms producing standout coffees with elevated sweetness and complexity—proving Brazil’s diversity beyond volume-driven production.
Once a surfer, Clayton Monteiro traded waves for mountains at age 22, taking the reins of Fazenda Ninho da Águia and transforming it into a beacon of sustainable coffee farming. Inspired by the Bob-O-Link Project, he adopted practices that prioritize environmental care, community development, and cup excellence. Today, Clayton is a local leader in specialty coffee, embodying a new generation of Brazilian producers reshaping the narrative of their country’s coffee.
