About the Origin

This coffee comes from the village of Shantawene in the Bensa district of Ethiopia’s Sidama Zone. It is produced by Daye Bensa, founded by brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo, and sourced from both their own farm and smallholder “out-growers” in the nearby villages of Shantawene, Karamo, and Bombe. The farms lie between 1,990 and 2,400 masl, in a lush, high-rainfall environment. Daye Bensa is deeply involved in community development, supporting women farmers and collaborating with local universities for quality research.

The coffee is a natural process, sun-dried and unwashed, highlighting the intense fruit character typical of high-elevation Sidama coffees. The varieties include 74110, 74112, Mikicho, Setami, and other local heirloom types. It is graded Grade 1, the highest quality classification for Ethiopian coffees.
