About the Region

Nestled in the non-volcanic mountain ranges of northwestern Guatemala along the Mexican border, Huehuetenango—meaning "place of the ancestors" in the Aztec language Nahuatl—is one of the country's premier coffee-growing areas. While the region’s dramatic topography reaches soaring peaks up to 3,850 meters, its sweet spot for coffee lies on the high mountain slopes between 1,350 and 2,000 meters above sea level. Here, extreme micro-climates pair intense daytime sunshine with cool, moist nighttime winds, creating the ultimate sanctuary for producing world-class specialty coffee.

About the Coffee

Grown by smallholders between 1,350 and 2,000 m in Huehuetenango, where warm days and cool nights make the beans slow to ripen and unusually dense. Caturra and Catuaí, hand-picked at peak ripeness from December to March, fermented, washed and sun-dried on patios for 15 days.
